Client Overview

SEA digital learning is reshaping how environmental professionals access Strategic Environmental Assessment guidance. IAIA (International Association for Impact Assessment) is the leading global network advancing best practices in impact assessment for policies, plans, programs, and projects. Its professional development programs equip practitioners and policymakers with practical knowledge and internationally accepted principles of  (SEA), supporting sound environmental and sustainability planning.

The Challenge

IAIA’s SEA Guidance eBook provides detailed, principle-based direction grounded in internationally recognized methods and best practices. While comprehensive, the material was originally designed as a reference document rather than a structured learning experience.

Services Provided

IAIA partnered with eLearningDOC to translate its Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Guidance eBook into structured, on-demand digital courses.

Our Solution

Translating reference material into structured learning.
  • The SEA eBook was reorganized into clear, progressive modules aligned with SEA principles and processes. Content was chunked, sequenced, and framed to support comprehension across audiences with varying levels of SEA experience.
Adapting complex visual content for digital delivery.
  • Tables, frameworks, and comparative analyses central to SEA guidance were redesigned for digital presentation and made fully accessible. The goal was to preserve technical accuracy while improving readability, navigation, and learner engagement.
Facilitating multi-SME collaboration.
  • Development proceeded through iterative review cycles involving the SME authors of the original guidance. As content transitioned from a text-based format into a visual and interactive design, alignment discussions surfaced naturally. eLearningDOC provided structured review criteria and facilitated targeted working sessions to clarify expectations, streamline revisions, and ensure both technical rigor and learner usability.

Highlights and Results

IAIA initially launched three online courses in 2024. Following positive collaboration and client feedback highlighting communication, flexibility, and commitment, IAIA returned to expand the engagement to six additional courses, forming a nine-course, fully accessible digital SEA training suite available on demand. You can review the courses on the IAIA website.

The phased expansion reflects the strength of the collaborative partnership and IAIA’s confidence in eLearningDOC as a trusted development partner.

Conclusion

By equipping environmental and policy professionals with structured, internationally recognized SEA knowledge, IAIA’s digital training supports more informed planning decisions, helping reduce environmental risk and promote sustainable development across regions and sectors. eLearningDOC is proud to contribute to this initiative by helping translate expert guidance into accessible, scalable learning for a global audience.
