Client Overview

Trauma-Resilient Educational Communities (TREC) is doing exemplary work in social-emotional learning and trauma-resilience training. As a non-profit organization, they are dedicated to creating healing-centered relationships and providing strategies to create stronger, more trauma-resilient communities. A significant part of the TREC programs is leading in online training for professional certification for individuals and organizational accreditation for institutions and businesses that want to infuse trauma resiliency into their best practices.

Services Provided

TREC partnered with eLearningDOC to tailor their content into a course for parents and guardians to gain insight and tools to nurture a healing-centered home environment through building trauma resiliency. Learning modules were designed to be quick and engaging as parents move through the information. Each module ends with a brief knowledge check using light activities to help retain what was learned. Animated scenarios were included to put their parenting knowledge to work in real-life situations. Additionally, long-form articles were offered as an option for further study, and additional resources for support were provided at the end of the course.

The services provided by eLearningDOC included:

  • Instructional Design Review for Accessibility
  • Course Development
  • Content Review
  • Content Design, Writing and Editing
  • Course Implementation
  • Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Client Evaluation

Highlights and Results

Recognizing the staggering impact of children’s exposure to adverse experiences, costing society upwards of $458 billion annually (Penn Today (upenn.ed.)), the critical need to mitigate the adverse effects of trauma compelled the leadership team at TREC to develop coursework specifically targeted to raising not only trauma awareness but raising trauma-resilient children. Understanding that it can be harder for parents who have faced difficult childhoods to navigate parenting, and it takes skilled support to make a difference in the lives of children who have been exposed to trauma, TREC conceived the Trauma-Resilient Parenting Certification course.

The instructional design team at eLearningDOC worked closely with the subject matter experts at TREC to transform their content and materials into a learning approach tailored for parents with busy schedules and limited time. The training modules were designed to be consumed in easy-to-digest lessons that address each stage of childhood development. Using the science from the ground-breaking work of Dr. Vincent Felitti on Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (PACEs), TREC developed a curriculum to address the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The approach was to introduce the brain science behind child development and then move the learners through each stage of a child’s growth, providing strategies for appropriately addressing behaviors to create healing-centered solutions for family relationships.

Conclusion

Throughout the entire process, from the engagement of our sales team through project management and design, eLearningDOC’s collaboration with TREC was an exceptional experience! The team is honored to be part of TREC’s ongoing good work and is currently working on the next project targeted for Healthcare Professionals to train in building trauma resilience and earn their Trauma-Resilient Healthcare Professional Certificate (TRHP).
